Both were Queens of England
| Mary and Katherine both held the title of Queen of England, although Katherine was Queen Consort, and for a time Queen Regent, Mary was the first Queen Regnant of England.

|
Both had less than perfect fathers
Henry & Fernando | Let's face it. Neither Henry nor Fernando would have won the Father of the Year Award. For Mary's adolescence Henry ignored Mary, and mistreated her. Fernando was more worried about getting his money back than his teenage daughter who was living in poverty in a foreign country.
|
Both were Latina.
| Both were at least half Spanish. |
Both married foreign Kings
Philip & Henry | Katherine was an Infanta of Spain, she married King Henry VIII of England. Mary was a Princess of England, she married King Philip II of Spain.
|
Both had the same complexion
| Both had a creamy fair complexion, piercing light blue eyes, and long golden red hair.In their youth, both were highly acclaimed by their intelligence and beauty.
|
They were fashion trendsetters
Katherine & Mary
| The queen dictated the fashion on her time, and Katherine and Mary were not different, loving clothes and jewels, especially with Mary, since she loved jewels and sumptuously clothes, in Mary's reign she made popular the The Flat Hood(hybrid of French and gable hood) and the"Bell Sleeves". Katherine adopted a more English style of dressing upon her arrival. She wore the Round Hood ( an early French hood) in her youth and when she became older a Gable Hood.

Both their fathers cheated on their mothers
Henry & Fernando
|
Fernando and Henry both cheated on their wives (so as well as no Father of the Year award, no Husband of the Year award either, huh?) Isabel learned that the best thing to do was not to be angry and confront him but to ignore his affairs with dignity, as he wasn't going to stop the affairs and by yelling at him he was just going to resent her for it. Katherine learned from her mother and did the same. Fernando had six illegitimate children that he acknowledged, with some of them having the same name as his children with Isabel! Henry had one that he acknowledged but likely had more, again he had the same name as another of Henry's children with Katherine - Katherine even had to attend his christening. |
Both suffered at the hands of Anne Boleyn
Anne Boleyn by Lucas Hornbout
| Both Katherine and Mary suffered over the influence and power Anne Boleyn had. Anne threatened to poison Mary, "marry her off to some varlet", Mary was made to serve in the household of her daughter in which she was given the worst room and reported to cry continuously. Anne's relatives treated Mary cruelly, Anne urged people to slap her if she claimed to be a Princess reminding her "of the cursed bastard she is". Katherine was ordered by Anne to give her Mary's Christening robe, brought over by Katherine from Spain, which Kathrine refused to do, Anne wasn't content with her own jewels but wanted Katherine's as well, and Katherine was eventually forced by the King to give them to her. |
Both were friends with Jane Seymour
| Jane Seymour was a friend and Lady in Waiting to Katherine, as well as Anne. Katherine, Jane, and Mary were devout Catholics so in 1536, Mary was invited back to Court by Queen Jane.
