Season 5 Summary King Henry VIII is dead the kingdom now lies under the rule of his only son Edward. The cold Edward Seymour oversees the business of England as King Edward VI's Lord Protector. Edward VI's other uncle Thomas Seymour is jealous of his brother's power but bounces back by marrying Henry VIII's widow Catherine Parr. Lady Elizabeth lives with Catherine Parr and Thomas Seymour and so the story begins of Thomas Seymour trying to seduce the Lady Elizabeth. The Lady Mary is still a very devote catholic and is facing must ridicule from the reformist. We are now introduced to Lady Jane Grey and her power hungry family. Also the Dudley family will start to come into play as The Seymours get pushed out of power. Out with the old in with the new. King Edward has suffered bouts of illness and is now dying but kept secret from the public. The Duke of Northumberland is now Lord Protector and using this to his advantage to bring his family to power. Anne of Cleves lives on, well into the reign of Mary I. She is present at Mary's coronation and eventually converts to Roman Catholism. She remains close to both Elizabeth and Mary until her death on 16 July 1557 at Catherine Parr's old household, Chelsea Manor, where Catherine too lived until her death. Anne was the last wife of Henry's to die and was the second oldest at 41, compared to Queen Katherine of Aragon who died at the age of 50. Anne was the only Queen to be buried in Westminster Abbey.
