Queen Consort

What were the ceremonial roles of a Tudor Queen Consort and in particular Henry VIII's wives? What were they to do besides giving an heir and sometimes acting as regent (COA and Katherine Parr) when Henry VIII was absent? Do you find this valuable?

Entertaining foriegn dignantries and royalty and doing a lot of what we would call public relations would form a good part of their role. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

thanks! I have been looking on the Internet and I was not getting a grasp of their roles. I know it was rare that they had political power, I believe wives 1 and 2 had that, and maybe even Katherine Parr. Do you find this valuable?

I think how much power the Queen consort had would depend largely on her relationship with the King. One thing that would often happen as with the May day riots early in Henry's reign is that the Queen would beg the King for mercy. This was a staged performance because whilst the King may appear weak by offering mercy the Queen being female wouldn't be. Do you find this valuable?
