Princess Margaret

Anyone felt really sorry for her? She was forced to marry an ancient guy, her brother AND new husband were abusive to her. On top of that, she died while her hubby was being ridden like a pony. Do you find this valuable?

It was awful what happened to her but it was happening to nearly all wives of that time. Do you find this valuable?

The real Princess was said to have killed her husband by making him dance to much. Although perhaps that was a metaphor ! ;) Do you find this valuable?

I read that it was Louis XII's "exertions" in the bedroom rather than dancing that killed him. Mind you, I doubt either could have really killed him. He must have already been in ill health. lol.

As for the storyline on The Tudors....I don't think historically it is known what Brandon was up to when his wife died but he was at court and she was at home. Mostly because she was so anti Anne Boleyn...so I think it was her choice to stay away.

Perhaps his "exertions" helped perk him up ;)
If Henry had died without a male heir wasn't it possible that Mary's son would have a claim on the throne ? Do you think this might have been another reason why she was against Henry remarrying ?

Well I think she was a personal friend of Katherine of Aragon plus a supporter of the conservative Catholic cause and did not recognize the annulment...because the Pope didn't.

At the time she died, Henry Fitzroy was still alive and of course, Katherine's daughter Mary would still have been in line for the throne before Brandon's children.

I was thinking this may have been an additional rather than sole reason. Although Mary would be ahead of any children of her Aunt's, if her cousin had lived would he have been a rival ? It would not have been the first time that a female ruler was passed over for a male futher down the succesion. True Mary would have had the backing of Spain but if her cousin had made a treaty with the French it may have been the start of civil war. Of course the children of (the real) Margaret would be in front of her but the English wouldn't have accepted a Scottish monarch when there was a male English alternative. I think that another reason that both Margaret in the series & Mary in reality dislked the annulment was a snobbish one. She didn't relish the idea of having to give precedence to a woman who had once been her lady in waiting. Do you find this valuable?

Totally agree....she looked down her nose at her. She and KoA were princesses from birth. They were in "the club" LOL.... Although Anne had the Howard heritage, she was still not as good as a royal.

Just imagine what she would have made of Henry's other English wives who had even less royal blood than Anne. Do you find this valuable?
