Place in the family

Since her date of birth is not certain, we cannot be certain of her place in her family. But what do you believe? Was she the elder of the three surviving Boleyn's children? Was she in the middle or the last one?

There seems to have been some dispute What I have read the most was that the order was as follows: Mary , Anne and George. So Anne would have come in the middle.

"Since her date of birth is not certain, we cannot be certain of her place in her family. But what do you believe? Was she the elder of the three surviving Boleyn's children? Was she in the middle or the last one?"In his biography of Anne, Eric Ives made a good case for the birth order to be Mary as the elder, Anne as the middle and George as the youngest. First, there was a letter written by Anne to her father which art historian Hugh Paget dated at 1513 from court in Brussels as maid of honour..a position which was open to a 12 or 13 year old. The handwriting is well formed and therefore putting her birthdate at circa 1501. As for George he showed that according the dates of his posts at court, he was the younger and finally, Lord Hunsdon, Mary's grandson petitioned for the earldom of Ormonde on the grounds that his grandmother was the eldest. So I believe, piecing all that information together puts the birth order as above. Do you find this valuable? |
