Lyrics that remind you of a character/s in the tudors?
Sep 3 2011, 7:50 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 3 2011, 7:50 PM EDT
Hey guys!,
Just thought to start a thread on lyrics that remind you of a character/couple/friendship/enemyship because a lot of songs these days remind me of those things. I'll start the thread of by saying the lyrics in 'Love the way you lie' by Rihanna and Eminem that say "This must be what happens when a tournado meets a volcanoe" reminds me of Henry and Anne Boleyn. Any lyrics that remind you of someone?

Great Idea Neta07!! I have one and it is called "Over You" it is by Chris Daughtry, "Now that it's all said and done I can't believe you were the one to build me up and tear me down like an old abandoned house." It reminded me of the story between Henry and Katherine Howard, he seemed like he was a shack and then was remade into a mansion, then only to feel as though he had returned to that state he once was in after discovering her infidelity. Yes, I agree great idea Neta.

The following is an alternative death bed confession that Henry might have made to Archbishop Thomas Cranmer.

And now the end is here
and so I face the final curtain.
My friend I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I am certain
I lived a life thats full
I travelled each and every highway
and more much more than this I did it my way

I found this song by the Sugarbabes and thought it could have been something Henry could have written to Anne Boleyn in the early days of his passion for her.

You are my obsession
I cannot sleep
I am your possession
unopened at your feet
There is no balance
No equality
Be still I will not accept defeat

I will have you
Yes, I will have you.
Like a wild butterfly
I will collect and capture you..

Yeah I agree. That song is totally about obessional love and would have been the kind of thing he would have written in a love letter to her.

Another song lyric from Rihanna which may have illustrated Henry's feelings of betrayal from Katherine Howard - "You say that your sorry, but you're not. You only say your sorry cos you got caught"

@ Royalfalcon, i agree that would have made for an interesting confession!! BTW those lyrics are by Frank Sinatra if I am not mistaken. And the lyrics fits Anne and Henry.

@LadyTudorsFan, the lyric makes sense and fits Henry and Kitty Howard!!

"What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
goes away
in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt"

Johnny Cash-For Henry

Agree that "love the way you lie" is perfect for Henry and Anne, like this line from LTWYL part 2:
"Together, we move mountains, let's not make mountains out of molehills"

And this one from Nelly Furtado:

"Well the dogs were barking at a new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day 'til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling on the clouds were dropping and
the rain forgot how to bring salvation
the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune"

Think it fits quite good on most of the people around Henry. "The old queen is dead, long live the queen!"

"You go back to her and I go back to black" - from Amy Winehouse 's Back To Black, possibly describes how Anne felt when she learned Henry was starting to see Jane Seymour. Do you find this valuable?

As cliché as it sounds, I think I Don't Love You by My Chemical Romance is a song very relevant to Henry and Anne in their later years. I'm probably over analysing, but this is what I think.
"Well when you go
Don't ever think I'll make you try to stay"
Henry wasn't going to save Anne. He was going to let the execution happen.
"And maybe when you get back
I'll be off to find another way"
He was getting over Anne, and going after Jane Seymour to get a son ('I'll be off to find another way')
"When after all this time that you still owe
You're still, a good-for-nothing I don't know"
Anne never gave Henry a son, despite her promises. He was getting frustrated.
"Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading
So sick and tired of all the needless beating"
Anne's perspective when she's begging Henry for another chance and he denies her.
"And after all the blood that you still owe"
Henry tore apart his kingdom and executed people just to marry Anne.

Also, Terrible Things by Mayday Parade. I like to think of it as Henry after Jane's death, especially a certain part of it.
"So don't fall in love there's just too much to lose"
He loved Jane, and he loved the fact she gave him a son, but ultimately he lost her.

This one was prompted by one of our current threads. It seems quite apt for Catherine of Aragon

I heard this song the other day & it instantly reminded me of Henry & Anne. Its by Gotye & its called Somebody That I Used To Know. Here are the lyrics -

Now and then I think of when we were together Like when you said you felt so happy you could die I told myself that you were right for me But felt so lonely in your company But that was love and it's an ache I still remember
You can get addicted to a certain kinda sadness Like resignation to the end, always the end So when we found that we could not make sense Well you said that we would still be friends But I'll admit that I was glad it was over
But you didn't have to cut me off Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger And that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low Have your friends collect your records And then change your number Guess that I don't need that though Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over But had me believin it was always something that I'd done But I don't wanna live that way Reading into every word you say You said that you could let it go And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know-oh-oh
But you didn't have cut me off Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing (oh) I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
