Don't really know if this fits-Best Reasons To LOVE WYATT !!!!
Nov 10 2010, 7:09 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 10 2010, 7:09 PM EST
I was just telling his Royal Highness, that one of the reasons that I love Wyatt ,was because the day that I was diagnosed with cancer, . My wonderful, beautiful husband took me in his arms and held me while I cried and spoke gentley into my ear a sonnet written by wyatt . I never have forgotten that and I never will.Ever word he spoke was true and it was the exact way that I felt about my husband!!! I believe that Wyatt was an beautiful soul ,filled with so many feelings that they had to come bursting forward. This world was not big enough to hold his heart or his words !!! 11  out of 11 found this valuable. OMG, ravenhair you have just made me cry with how beautiful that post of yours was *sniff* That is so heartbreaking, but so amazing at the same time (i envy you for your husband, my boyfriend doesn't know a word of Wyatt's poetry!), can you remember which poem it was? I would love to know.

And i agree with you as well, similarly to Anne, i don't think Wyatt belonged in the Tudor court where ambition and deceit thrived, because he was neither of those things. It seemed love was a commodity back then, used as a means to an end, in fact, i would say it's the same today. But Wyatt loved with all his soul, his entire being even. You're right, he had such a wonderful heart, but it was something that wasn't valued in the era he was born, and probably wouldn't be valued today either. The world was simply too small for him.

Thank you so much for such kind words Reggie, you are indeed so sweet .When they first diagnosed me with cancer ( Leukemia to be exact - Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia ) ,My Doctor,Dr. Beeker , came into the room and asked if he could speak to my husband outside in the hall alone for a moment. when they came back in my husband walked towards me and I could tell that he had been crying,I knew something was wrong. My beautiful, loving husband put his arms around me from behind and held me .The doctor then proceeded to tell me what i had and the problem was that my white blood cell count was 180,000.Right now they haveme on Sprycel medication and i 'm doing Chemo. There trying really hard to throw this bad boy into remission. When i turned into my husbands arms to cry,he just let cry,he held my tight and he recited these words very gentley into my ear:

It's from sir Thomas Wyatt 's sonnet by the name of "The Lover Describeth his Being stricken with Sight of His Love "

The lively sparks that issue from those eyes,
Against the which there vaileth no defence,
Have pierced my heart, and done it none offence
with quaking pleasure more than once or twice.
Was never man could any thing devise,
Sunbeams to turn with such great Vehemence
To daze man's sight ,as by their bright presence
Dazed am I ; much like unto the guise
Of One stricken with dint of lightning ,
Blind with the stroke, and cying here and there :
So call I for help , I not when nor where,
The pain of my fall patiently bearing :
For straight after the blaze, as is no wonder,
Of deadly noise hear I the fearful thunder.

My husband is the Thomas Wyatt Lover,He can quote just about anything that he's written. But on that particular day ,when my husband ,at that particular time spoke what he spoke into my ear ,everything he said to me ,described how I felt about my beautiful husband.

Thomas Wyatt ,was a true romantic, but not just in love, but in the way he saw the world around him.For such a wonder soul , he spoke of life and death and love.In his words you feel his happiness, his pain ,his anguish, his fears. All of the meanings of his words, the feelings come pouring thru into his works,it is true, that this world was not big enough to hold his heart or his beautiful words!!! In that era of time as well as this one ,I still believe that their are so many that still do not appreciate the words and wisdom in his thoughts and his feelings. He gives a an insight into a period in time that we normally would have to rely on history to be able to learn about.personally,I like his version better !!!LOL
I guess I'm just a romantic at heart too!!

Aw, that sounds like a terrible ordeal to go through, the only person i know who has gone through something similar is my cousin, who unfortunately lost her husband to stomach cancer, and i admire her strength for coming through it, as i admire yours. Your husband sounds like a wonderful person, and i'm all the more envious of you now xD

I agree with everything you've said, you truly do see the Tudor court through Thomas' eyes, and there's no better source than him, in my opinion. Reading his poetry you feel what he felt, see what he saw, and experience all the heartbreak he endured with him, through losing the woman he loved and losing all his friends too.

I wasn't a romantic until i learned of him, and he had me swooning, lol!

I posted something on the Thomas Wyatt idea page,I hope thats okay,i'd love to be able to be a team member, but it was just an idea about creating a thread about his works ,you know, his sonnets and poems.Discussing their meanings and what he might have been feeling and living thru at the time?! It was just a thought ,what do you think,a discussion forum about the works of Thomas Wyatt?

I would LOVE that, and you're more than welcome to post anything you want on the page, that's what it's there for ;) I've often found in talking about a lot of his poems that my interpretation and another's can be quite different, and i learn so much more about Thomas that way. Brilliant idea ;D

As long as you're not hating on Wyatt, i don't mind what you post, and i know you wouldn't do such a thing, so it's completely fine as far as i'm concerned ;D
