I always loved the character of Katherine, and like many of the others, I found Maria Doyle Kennedy's portrayal of her my favorite, along with Annette Crosby's in The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Both actresses played Katherine as the great lady of faith and integrity that she was. the truth is , she was in fact MORE ROYAL than Henry himself, being the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, who were the greatest monarchs of their day. The Trastamara dynasty of Castile, was in fact far older than the Tudors, who were the "new kids" on the block, having surplanted the Plantagenets, who has ruled England for hundreds of years. In fact, being a descendent of John of Gaunt, on of the younger sons of Edward III of England, whose daughters married into the royal courts of Castile and Portugal, Katherine was in fact almost as "English" as Henry, whose ancestors were Welsh. What a truly great and dignified lady she really was. AS a catholic, I've always thought she should be considered for canonization.Just living with someone like Henry for 20 years is reason enough for sainthood! 5  out of 6 found this valuable. LOL on deserving sainthood for putting up with the likes of Henry!
Kof A was well loved & respected by her English subjects who adored her.
Henry's decision to toss her aside & make Mary a bastard was extremely unpopular & Anne Boleyn was hated. Of course being the mother of one of England's most famous Queens helped to restore Anne's image over time, however Kof A was a good & spiritual person.
Many times bad things happen to good people.
I also enjoyed MDK's portrayal of KofA. Annette Crosby was also extremely good.
