"I always loved the character of Katherine,and like many of the others, I found Maria Doyle Kennedy's portrayal of her my favorite, along with Annette Crosby's in The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Both actresses played Katherine as the great lady of faith and integrity that she was. the truth is , she was in fact MORE ROYAL than Henry himself, being the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain,who were the greatest monarchs of their day. The Trastamara dynasty of Castile, was in fact far older than the Tudors, who were the "new kids" on the block, having surplanted the Plantagenets, who has ruled England for hundreds of years. In fact, being a descendent of John of Gaunt, on of the younger sons of Edward III of England, whose daughters married into the royal courts of Castile and Portugal, Katherine was in fact almost as "English" as Henry, whose ancestors were Welsh. What a truly great and dignified lady she really was. AS a catholic, I've always thought she should be considered for canonization.Just living with someone like Henry for 20 years is reason enough for sainthood!"
