henrys wives

of henrys wives there were eight
and of these more than a few
met a tragic fate
for the man with the ax was ever at hand
and henrys tastes were anything but bland
for his wars he did relish
his enemies he'd embellish
and then salt their blood with sand
his friends he enjoyed
but then left them with elan
thinking there'd be more where
they came from
oh henry: you could be as nasty as fate
as hard as diamonds
and oftentimes late
but still when i think on those who've past
its henry's legacy that comes to mind
or as he put it "never finish last'
so its henry we remember
and his series
which tho in the throes
has left us not in the least weary
henry: voila: at war and at peace
yours graces hard pressed to pacify the beast

Henry had six wives but that would mess up the whole poem trying to find words to rhyme with six instead of eight lol Do you find this valuable?

I see great minds think alike - we most have posted at the same time.

However, since you once informed us that you were related to Vlad the Impaler I will definitely defer to you Stone Fox!!

6. RE: they say henry seeks a wife

they say king henry seeks a wife
they say the hangman seeks a knife
they say the soldier seeks a grave
the say the fools seeks another knave
they say king henry will have his way
they say his princes all await his day
they say his cardinals mould his shroud
they say his wives are far too proud
they say king henry seeks a wife
they say a priest seeks to save a life
but pope and king cannot agree
and so we pray now to good king henry
because the pope would not obey
god made henry lord of night and day
so for all ye honest folk
seek neither king nor princely cloak
for once put on it shall be your shroud
ask the queens once so proud
but ask naught of king henry
tis neither fit nor meet
that man may questioms
what kings do seek
that man may quesion
what kings do seek
