"Is it true that Henry was so impressed with her when she returned to court as Sis that he considered marrying her again after offing Katherine Howard?"I think it was the other way around - it was Anne of Cleves who hoped that Henry would marry her again, now that he knew her better and got along with her. "Indeed, Anne of Cleves was said to have been most displeased that Henry would not take her back after the execution of Catherine Howard. She felt that Catherine Parr was far less beautiful and also older than herself. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

she may not have been beautiful according to English standards, but then again, even English standards differed GREATLY from our current standards, and such negative depictions they would often give to someone who found displeasure in their eyes.

It's interesting that only Henry is on record as calling Anne unattractive. Most other people who saw her thought she was pretty or at least not ugly. It's also strange that if she really was so unlike her portrait that Holbein was not punished or rusticated from court.
