Comparing Anne Boleyna nd Catherine of Aragon
Oct 15 2009, 6:14 PM EDT
I thought you oudn't actually compare Anne and Catherine together. Catherine diedin exile but Anne was executed, Anne must of had a greater pain than Catherine and after watching the show, I thought that Catherine was a bit proud and naive, she honestly believed that henry was going to come back to her even though he flaunted his relationship wit Anne Boleyn in public

Maybe there are comparisons, but is it really fair to compare them? I mean, they were two completely different women, who were sworn enemies. Katherine refused to accept that her marraige was dead, Anne could (potentially) give the King what Katherine could not (Katherine was barren), etc, etc. I don`t know what to make of her, I really don`t. On the one hand, I admire her stoicism, on the other, her stubbornness infuriates me. She, Anne and Henry altogther caused utter destruction together.

The fascination with Henry and his six wives stems from the fact each and every one was unlike the one before her! I can't really compare the two to be honest, maybe their pride, but that's about all!In full agreement with your comment there Elliemental, when you claim KOA, AB and Henry caused utter destruction together! Take one look at poor Mary, and you'll see the result of their mess! Do you find this valuable? |

Both of them amaze me in a different way..Yes,If I were Catherine I would hate Anne...Just because she took away my husband and "made" my daughter a bastard....But I think we all know that bach in those times women had to do what theu were forced to do....So I think Anne couldn't do otherwise..Catherine was royal while Anne was not so that made her belief even more stronger that she was the true queen....If Anne had never met Henry then he would meet another girl and for sure he would abandon Catherine just to produce his son.....All in all, each wife has a unique character and we must not blame them for the fate of their prodecessor's(Anne-Catherine,Jane-Anne) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Well, they were both intelligent, quick-witted, stong-willed, and interested in religion.

"Well, they were both intelligent, quick-witted, stong-willed, and interested in religion."Those are good comparisons between the two Queens, Caroline Z! Although on opposite ends of the spectrum, the irony is that they had these general traits in common, which is what prpbably caused so many problems. Do you find this valuable? |

Both Katharine and Anne were very tough, clever, single-minded politicians, who knew what they wanted and went for it. Both were prepared to be patient, to wait to become queen, and to push for their children to inherit the throne. And neither was prepared to give way.
