I really think you need to read up on Catherine if you don't think Henry loved her, he showed and declared it in numerous letters, songs, gestures etc. he said "my wife and i be in perfect love as any two creatures can be" "i loved truly were i did marry" that if i could start again and marry any woman, he would still choose her, he said he
"loved and desired her" above all women and "longed" to wed her. Etc, etc, etc.

loved? i doubt that Henry loved someone beyond himself, maybe Edward only and the posthumous love for Jane. But passion, yeah,in their early relationship they were in love.
unfortunally we have little material which shows their early love.

Actually, we do: the song "As the Holly Groweth Green" was allegedly written by Henry for KOA. I don't know what love meant to Henry, but the relationship he had with Katharine came closest to meeting what we moderns think of as love; it had run the gamut from young love and grown into mature regard, respect, and friendship until a combination of the need in his mind for a male heir, and his sudden passion for Anne Boleyn came about. His marriage to Katharine was the only one of his marital relationships that had time for that. His marriage to Katharine spanned 24 years of his life. The total of his years with the other 5 wives was ten.

So true. There are no movies base on Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon, and the way they were. Most of the movies that feature KOA, usually show her as old, ugly dark hair, when in fact KOA was only 5,or 6 years older than Henry VIII,and was said to be very pretty in her younger years. Plus she had light to golden blond hair. Henry VIII was in love with KOA,and was often very affectionate towards her, Although Henry VIII had affairs on Queen Katherine, (affairs was consider a kings right) he was usually very discreet, and wasn't known to flaunt his affairs. ..at least not until his affair with Anne.

Henry loved no one..After all he did also write love letters to Anne(more that 17,maybe the song Greensleeves) and then he did what??He beheaded her...He desired women ...When someone didn't want to become his mistress he chased her like a mad man ..But when he finally had her... then that was all... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. If you are referring to the word "banished" that was used on the page at the top, I think the person who made it meant she was sent away from the king and his court like Katherine was....although it was to a prison in Anne's case.

As for Henry loving Katherine.... Henry was always a hopeless romantic and definitely professed to love her. He always wanted to be "in love" with his wives which is the reason the Anne of Cleves marriage didn't work. Problem was, he seemed to be 'in love" with the idea of being in love like a lovesick teen. He never seemed to grow up and understand that real love matures into more than just that first flush of romance.

I agree with MsSquirrly, that Henry wanted the rush of love but lacked the emotional maturity for a complete relationship. He wanted to be on a high all the time. The show does a great job of showing this. I do, however, think he was a bit more capable of real affection earlier in his life when he was married to Katherine. This is before the various physical and environmental impacts took their toll on him. Do you find this valuable?
