Just a reminder that David Starkey's new series starts tomorrow (6 April) 9:00 on channel 4. Its a 4 parter looking at "what made the real Henry." Might be worth a look... 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah, it should be worth watching. Starkey pretty much lost me as a fan when he accused women historians of 'feminising' history, but he knows his stuff on the Tudors. Do you find this valuable?

I heard about David's anti-women rant about history, I wonder if that could just be attributed to his age. Do you find this valuable?

I think it can be attributed to his desire to attract attention. The guy may well know his Tudor history but he's like the Jerry Springer of historians IMO. He'll say anything to be sensational and attract attention. I don't care for those kinds of people and make it a policy of not promoting them by ignoring them completely. Do you find this valuable?

Really frogy? That's how he is? The only thing I know about Starkey is that he wrote the 6Wives book(which was so boring) and what I've seen from youtube about the Six Wives. I really enjoy those videos. Do you live in the UK and that is how you know about his sensational comments? Do you find this valuable?

Agreed Frogy whenever he has something to promote he says something controversial in order to get himself into the papers and therefore gain more publicity. I had a look through his book just quickly (didn't buy it) and it only appears to go up until Wolseys downfall, wonder if the series will do the same? I think I read somewhere he is attempting to pinpoint the moment when H8's personality changed and why. Do you find this valuable?

I would, random thought but isn't that book of Elizabeth's the one that Henry gave to Catherine of Aragon, because I thought Elizabeth had written "This book is mine Elizabeth the Queen", but maybe I'm wrong or it could be 2 diffrent books 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
