sex scenes in the Tudors

I must admit the the Tudors is extremely tin tilating for me sexually. It is better than porn, as it does leave much to the imagination. I wonder how it was for JRM and Ndormer to shoot such passionate scenes for hours at a time. He must have be so aroused, and I can't imagine she didn't respond. Also Charles Brandons scenes. I don't think I could honestly be in a crowed room with Caville, and I'm close to 60. I don't even like too many men besides my husband, but there is no way I could not lose my mind around them.Do you think they view this as a job, and can just separate the sex part as just acting? Especially as they spent so much time together on the set. I can't imagine that, I know JRM has a gilfriend. How did she handle him coming back smelling like another woman. They must have had sex. must have, although I see them as so professional. 38  out of 46 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't want to burst your bubble, but read any interview with any actor and they will say that filming a sex scene is the most awkward thing, that can happen to them while shooting a movie/series. It takes hours to do, there are 20 sweaty crew and lighting guys standing around watching, while they have to be butt naked and the director tells them how to exactly move (wait, your shoulder blocks her face, turn a little to the left; could you moan a little louder?l).
That can certainly not be sexy or arousing for the actors, it's very technical and (probably) embarrasing WORK and on top of that they might have to deal with a jealous partner at home.
So I think one or the other actor might secretly enjoy a kissing scene, but those full blown sex scenes? I don't think so.

I think they get hardened (no pun intended) to all the potential arousal. As many have said our primary sex organ is our brain, I guess one can "act" turned on, but I'm sure if there is a basic attraction it can lead to a relationship. Look how many divorces occur amongst entertainers and how they hop from one relationship to another. Not many are loyal & many meet on a movie set, ie: Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor while filming
"Cleopatra". Both were married at the time. Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt met while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Is JRM still with the same girlfriend? If he's loyal to her he deserves kudos as I'm sure he has plenty of opportunity to hook up with very attractive women. The very nature of his job is not condusive to monogamy.

LOL! You are so right! And imagine the poor actor, having obeyed every single command of the director, hoping to be released, and then he has to hear: "Sorry, guys, slight technical problem/ wrong lights/ a bee on the microphone. Once more, please!"

I really don't believe actors find it as titillating as the viewers.....most scenes are not shot in one flowing timeframe. The camera will be stopped on several occasions....lights will be set up...they will have to make sure they have the light on their faces and keep their bodies in certain positions. They aren't making a porn movie...there is no real sex happening. The men often are wearing a "sock" in a strategic area and the women are also wearing skin coloured G strings. Many actors say it is very awkward and not sexy at all.

That being said...JRM seems to be very comfortable with the scenes. Here is his quote:
"When you’re having sex [on the set] with somebody you’re totally in that person at that time. It’s strange when there are tons of people looking at you, but I don’t get ashamed and I don’t get embarrassed. I go to the gym, so I’m comfortable with my body. This is the job that I do and if I want to be comfortable doing the job that I do, I have to take care of myself."

I think Natalie Dormer admitted that she found the sex scenes very boring in the Tudors, haha!

Before watching The Tudors, I even HATED sex scenes. The Tudors have changed everything. I guess it's because there are no scenes which seem to be uninspired or give an ungainly impression. In other films or series most sex scenes look arranged to me. Besides, I do not feel attracted to a lot of men but WHEN I do, it's very strong.

Yes that Volta dance was something else.

This scene was pure electric between JRM and Natalie Dormer. It virtually blew my socks off!!

One of the best scenes in the show, imo!

I think i've said this before, but i would have been much happier with the sex scenes in the Tudors, particulary the ones from Season 1, if the correct children had been produced from them. Just look at the amount of unnecessary ones Charles Brandon and Margaret Tudor had, made all the more unnecessary when no Frances Brandon popped up, just a son named Edward, who was literally conjured out of thin air! 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Okay, this might sound weird, but remember the scene where Anne Boleyn is questioning Cromwell about the closing of religious houses and also demands to know if it's true that he is letting the Seymours use his chambers because of their proximity to the King? She gets very close to him and tells him he is too high-handed and asks if he assumes that she no longer has the power to crush him. Maybe it's me, but I felt he was angered by her but also stimulated! Anybody else get this impression? 3  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

I'll deny it! lol

I didn't get that impression at all, but then I am not attracted to either actor. :-)

I definitly saw the sparks fly. Even though nothing like that had ever happen, according to History, on the show, I thought for a second that they were going to get it on.

It's a crying shame that they did not keep with real history. Seeing Charles and Margaret (Mary) being happily married for a long time and having their "real" children would have been so much more pleasant. But I would not go that far to declare their sex scenes as unnecessary. Nevertheless I have been grateful for them.

I actually think the sex scenes on this show are redundant and over the top. A few of them actually have no purpose such as the one between Henry and Ursula before she leaves court. And I admit I am getting tired of Jonathan's loud screaming. 10  out of 14 found this valuable. Do you?

Is it me, or does he actually look as though he's in pain when he has an orgasm?

I never found JRM attractive anyway, so his face contorting in pleasure (if you can call it that) is something i am becoming gradually tired of seeing!
