John Constable - question

So I thought the guy who played Sir Constable was Sir Robert Constable, but I just looked on the character page and he is listed as John Constable? I am confused. Why did Robert Constable get renamed John Constable? Is that a mistake? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Not a mistake...check the character page for season 3 here http://tudorswiki.sho.com/page/Season+3+Characters

and scroll down to the promo video for the characters on that page....if you check it at 4:15 of the 6 min video, you will see its John Constable.

really? Do you know why the producers chose to rename him? Maybe they thought we would confuse him with Robert Aske? John Constable played a very minor role in the rebellion and he was actually pretty adamant about NOT joining their cause. Come to think of it, I am not sure what happened to him? I don't think he shared Robert Constable's fate as a traitor.

anyway, it probably doesn't matter because no one is going to notice the difference. They keep calling him "Sir Constable".

I just did a google search on John Constable and it came up empty. Not even a wikipedia page on him? Wasn't he a knight of some sort. sheeesh Robert Constable is rolling in his grave. Do you find this valuable?

Nope, there's basically nothing on him out there. I added all that I knew about him on the character page. I'm actually wondering if they are going to have him double as Robert Constable and Sir Francis Bigod. It really doesn't make sense for him to be named John Constable otherwise, unless they are trying to have him play several characters' roles. Do you find this valuable?

And no, as far as I know, John Constable did not share Robert's fate probably because, as you said, he was never a big fan of the pilgrimage in the first place. I believe his young son was with him during the pilgrimage...he shows up later during Elizabeth I's reign. Do you find this valuable?

Well, if they are going to combine characters then they should rename them something that makes more sense!

Robert Constable should really be Sir BiStable (Robert Constable and Bigod). Suffolk should really be SuffNor (the Duke of Suffolk and Norfolk). Margaret should have been Margary (Mary and Margaret)

LOL - I love it! Sounds like those names they come up with for celebrity couples, ha ha! And I am going to refer to Mary/Margaret as Margary from now on. :-)
