Christmas as it should be
Dec 16 2008, 12:34 PM EST | Post edited: Dec 16 2008, 12:34 PM EST
It would have been great to experience a TUDOR CHRISTmas!! Just thinking about the Tudor Christmas brings back WHAT CHRSTmas should be
A simple time (but hard to live in as well) where NO ads, TV ads etc to encourage us to focus on the MATERIAL ASPECT of CHristmas. We have turned more toward what to buy??? and now with the economy How much does it cost?? HOW to buy?? And we forget that the COST of CHRISTmas as already been PAID IN FULL...For without CHRIST there would be NO CHRISTmas.

A little girl had just lost her foot and she was in severe pain...She had been crying for quite a while and her parents and the SHriner Staff was pushing her hospital bed around the hospital just to give her comfort...SUDDENLY she stopped crying...Everyone IMMEDIATLY checked on this girl with a history of seizures (thinking seizure) and she had this most INCREDIBLE SMILE on her face...full of wonder, suprise and HOPE...She said..
"Mama, remember you teaching us that Paul wrote that we were made ofboth body and spirit..." "Well, I asked JESUS to help me stand the pain and HE DID!! Jesus sent my HOLY SPIRIT FOOT to help me (refering to the Phantom sensation)

That little girl found COMFORT in ONE whose face she HAS not seen, YET!

NO MATTER what u r going through FIND COMFORT in the REASON for the season! love amg

I think it would have sucked....but that is my personal opinion....not many gifts and you probably spent the majority of your day in church....(we were not real church going people growing up...Not that there is anything wrong with it) Sorry I am the full out commercialized christmas girl...the gift giving....shopping....getting presents.. Don't get me wrong though...I have a dark spot in my heart for the season just like the rest of us. They probably didn't have all the food that we get now...not to mention the health safety standards that we have now...and the access to so many varities of food....that is fresh. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. I would have in all reality DIED without Bath and Body works....BUT sometimes it is nice to think of the Reason we celebrate the Season. I was not in the Holiday spirit until yesterday. I LOVE giving GIFTS that is the BEST of all and the cooking for the family
we all can see the good and bad in celebrating the Holidays TUDOR style...

That would have been me too...small pox, the fever...something would have gotten me....My fiance and I watched War of the Worlds...I told him I loved the movie but would never watch it again...why....because I would have been one of the people sucked up into the machine and spit out all over the trees.....I don't have enough luck or talent to have been one of the people that was smart enough to figure out how to escape and kill the aliens....

Actually, Rennaissance Chistmas emphasized feasting, dancing, masques, miracle plays, and rejoicing, so I think it would have been a joyous and fun holiday. Not all of it was spent in church.

Happy holidays!!!

For us it's all of the above. The faith in God to deliver us from ourselves, the season of giving, shopping, eating good food and being with family and friends. AND a reminder of being fortunate and that there are those that have less.

Great story Pookiesmama!!!

Also everyone respect your retail salesgirls and boys when you are shopping.... although there are some of them that are downright rude, most of us are overworked and underpaid.

I'm in management and STILL am both of those... and nothing sucks more than refolding the same darn sweater 137 times...

Just a little venting... I just got home from worky work and it's 11:37pm pacific time :)

Happy Christmas and Hanukkah and all of those!!!
