If you could ask Anne Boleyn any question, what would it be?

For me, it would be. Did you ever really love Henry VIII? I have my doubts.

and did you write your thoughts in a letter to your daughter before your death?

I would ask Anne how she could speak so highly of the man that betrayed her and how she could have forgiven her father for his part in her death as well as her brother's. She obviously loved them very much.

My question would be "Why did you alienate so many people when you had the education and intelligence to do better." 3  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

I'd ask her when and where she was born, to settle the dispute once and for all. I'd also ask her if, knowing the kind of ruler her daughter would one day be, she would act differently if she had the opportunity to turn back the clock. 5  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Did the beheading hurt? I don't remember during both seasons if Anne showed her love for God so vigoursly as she did in the last episode. But the reason she forgave HVIII and her father because of what it says in the bible. Forgive your enemies. That is what I think. 4  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

It's been my experience that everyone who knows they are going to die sooner than later embrace God vigorously. They are afraid of death and what it will entail and having been taught that God is there for them , reach out.

Did she really love Henry and was it all worth it? I don't know it's hard for me to believe that knowing your sister was involved with this person as soon as it was needed to keep his attention she was willing to step up into the play. I guess it had to do with the times like pointed out in a different thread. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I would try not to judge her (she was no saint, but she wasn't the devil, either; not trying to make light of her actions, but she did not deserve to die), and try to remember that the definition of "love" that we have today may not have meant quite the same thing in her time. I feel that any question I ask her would be inferior, but I would have to express to her that I marvel at her deep faith and ask her what drove her to seek a Reformation, so much so that she captured a king to make its catalyst? I would then invite her to a nice home-cooked dinner (I make a wicked lasagna...or whatever she might like) and the nicest bottles of wine that I could afford. Hopefully she'd accept. And then I'd beg her to stay in this century! 6  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

I would ask: " Are you satisfied that your sacrifices weren't for nothing?"
and, " What do you think of the status of women today--and the knowledge that a child's gender is determined by the father's genes and not the mother's?"

That's an interesting question; I wonder, too. because if Anne did love she certainly might have noticed when he was beginning to develop a real antipathy to her, which brings me to the question I would ask her: "If you knew that this man whom you thought adored you was capable of sending you to the block, would you have governed your tongue and your actions?"

By the way, that's not to criticize Anne so much as to discover if it ever had occurred to her that her behaviour, insolent and insubordinate , as it would have been perceived in her time (bearing in mind that back then a wife was supposed to be meek and docile to her husband - I'm not condoning that - ) could have resulted in her execution, and if Anne really loved Henry, wouldn't she have been more attuned to her precarious position in the King's affection and moderated her behaviour? I really don't think that Anne ever conceived that Henry could, in effect, kill her. I honestly believe that Henry's antipathy to Anne - and again, I am not saying it was just because she was vocal in her disapproval of his affairs; the antipathy could have had other causes as well, is what sent her to the block. Without it, even though she did not bear the male heir, she could have been divorced and gone on living. If she had been aware that she was antagonizing him top the point that all he wanted was to rid himself of her, that he no longer loved her, and in fact had begun to hate her, would Anne have toned down her behavior? She seemed to be acting as though in Henry's eyes she could do no wrong and fatally misjudged his regard for her. I have probably overexplained my question, but I'm hoping I have phrased my question to Anne in a manner to be understood, not to upset anyone. 6  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

I would ask Anne about her concerns for Elizabeth's welfare once she was gone, knowing the kind of person Henry was.
I would also ask her if she could give her daughter advice that would help her in the future, what would it be?

I would ask Anne what her relationship was like with her father prior to her serving in Queen Katherine's household. I would also ask her about her relationship with her mother. And why there is so little historical record about her. 4  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah I'm with you, I'd probably bribe her with food to stay in the 21st century and have her talk about anything she wanted. She probably would have lots of questions to ask us as we would have for her. I think she would be amused to see all the books and movies made about her so long after her death dispite Henry and her enemies attempts to errase her from history. I would introduce her to foods with refined sugar, and chocolate... let's see her resist that!

"I don't remember during both seasons if Anne showed her love for God so vigoursly as she did in the last episode. "
In the second season when Anne was assembling her household she instructed them to read the English translation of the Bible (which is also historically accurate) and when her cousin Madge was giggling over a satire by Wyatt she confiscated the book and said Madge should be reading the Bible instead for her spiritual improvemet. And in season 1, Cromwell recognizes Anne as a reformist and supplies her with the "Obedience of the Christian Man". Historically, it's not known how she got this book, but when it was confiscated from her by a Catholic bishop at court she claimed to Henry it was "never a book more dear to me"

I would ask her if she could go back in time with all her memories and knowing what will happen to her, would she do exactly the same and still try to be queen of England.

I would ask her how sincere her interest was in the Reformed faith. Did you do it for the divorce or for your own convictions? My research points to a little of both but more of the latter, but it would save me a lot of time and effort if she would just point me in the right direction, lol. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Okay Boudica, you make the dessert (I'll bet she'd love chocolate!) and I'll put together a main course for Anne! I read somewhere that she did like to eat....is that what the remark "she has the King's great appetite" means? What fun! A dinner we could all make for Anne:)
