"His voice was wonderful!!.....is it any wonder that Liz married him twice? LOL"
I watched "Anne of the Thousand Days" recently and I was struck by not only the voice and intonation ( I think the Welsh influence in his voice adds even more depth) but by the fact that he was similiar I think in the way his body was starting to show the beginning of the transition from youthful glory to the beginning of slowing down and becoming more solid, a hint of things to come for both H VIII and Burton himself. I know they were not alike in features, etc. but he portrayed a H VIII was in good shape yet the excesses of the future were starting to loom. I'll always love Burton.

Does anyone remember Orson Welles( ? ) cameo in "Man 4 all Seasons" ?
He embodied the wordly archbisop/cardinal as the ultimate worldly courtier/prelate. He conveyed an under tone that I couls swear had a hiss in it.Great Casting!

Yes, Burton's interpretation of Henry VIII struck me as leonine. He was a great actor.

Wells' Wolsey was the ultimate pragmatist, Henry's facilitator. I also enjoyed Anthony Quayle in that role in "Anne of the Thousand Days". Wolsey was working on some documents in his bed, his mistress asleep beside him when the Duke of Norfolk knocks. He slaps her on the flank and says something like, "C'mon Bess, out you go for form's sake." and she slips out the side door before Wolsey tells the Duke to enter. Yes some of those prelates were certainly worldly.

Richard Burton looked like Henry VIII when he was middle aged. He had that strong macho presence that Henry had even in his later years before he got fat and old. The only other person ever casted that gave Henry that flare was Eric Bana. although, I was not crazy about The Other Boleyn Girl, Eric was how I imaged Henry as a young man. The only problem was Eric should have had blue eyes and been a red head. :p Do you find this valuable?
