KoA as offical Spanish Ambassador.
I've always found it very interesting that during 1507 when the post of Spanish ambassador to England was vacant Katherine of Aragon was appointed as her father's ambassador - Henry VII and his councillers expected her to fail and be a pushover, but Isabella's daughter certainly proved them wrong :D
This post was usually reserved for a man - indeed I've never heard of another offical female ambassador at this time. Which, imo, just makes KoA more awesome and forward in terms of her opinions on the abilities of women (her advocation for women's education is another example)
My qustion is this - WERE there any other femal ambassadors near this point? And had there been previously?

Is it just me?
...or does the picture on the cover of 'The Handmaid's Tale' look rather like the potraits of KOA as the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene by Sittow? Any connection there, d'you think?
Or am I just reading WAAAY to much into things?

KOA' critiscms of the Catholic Church
While KOA was very devoted to her Roman Catholic faith, in private she was very vocal about thing such as fake relics and the emphisis of Sains - ironically she was actually painted as two Saints during her teenage years - does anyone know in extra information about this, such as quotes etc.?

The last days of Henry VIII
I have always wondered since a girl in High School about the final days of Henry VIII.
It seems that I can find very little to appease my curiosity about Henry's last days. I know where he died. When. Possibly how he died. Some of the people with him when he died. But did Henry know he was dying? Did he get to say a final goodbye to KP? Goodbye to his kids? IF so then WHAT did he say to them all. And do you believe the dogs really licked Henry's blood from the floor? OR was that an old 'tale' told was it really true????

Question from the SHOWTIME message boards for British fans
I haveposted a really good question for British Tudor fans from the SHOWTIME message board.
Please answer this if you wish It is a really good question from someone from the states
realize my question has more to do with the first two seasons, but I figured it would be more likely to be answered here. My mother and I want to know what students in Britain are taught in school about Anne Boleyn. Are you taught that she was mightily wronged? Or are you taught the opposite or something else? Also, it seems that in the States there is very poor judgement of Henry, but what are Britain students taught in school about him? THANKS SO MUCH Angela aka pookiesmama

We wait fifty years...
...for a Catherine of Aragon biography - and now TWO come along at once!
If you haven't already heard Julia Fox and Giles Tremlett are publishing biographies on my favourite Queen - the former will come out next year, and the latter this October!

Can't wait!
I'm so glad that there is finally going to be a Bio. on Katherine! The last British one being published in the '60s, and is now out of print.
I mean there have been so many Anne Boleyn books over the past few years alone - I've nothing against that, I own several myself, but it's nice for focus to be on one of the other wives for once. Especially Katherine, who was a fascinating woman whose achievements are little known and overlooked.

Headress? Never seen one like it before.
I've never seen a headress like the one Catherine of Aragon wears in this pciture. Does anyone know anything about it? Or even what it's called?
I don't think it's a round hood - though KOA was very fond of them in her youth.

Defending her honor?
Something I've always wondered in regards to the divorce, do you think if had Henry not questioned Katharine's honor (in regard's to Arthur), things would've gone differently? It went from a king asking for a divorce to a queen defending her image. That was a large part of Katharine's defiance, not just the rights she had, but her name was (in that day and age) being dragged through the mud with Henry's accusations. I mean, even Anne Boleyn went down swinging when it came to people questioning her supposed infidelities.
What do you think?

Newly discovered portrait of...
...COA! It was painted when she was 15, by Micheal Sittow. It seems he liked painting her as he would paint her a further two times in her life. She is portrayed as "Madonna"(The Virgin Mary)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/33317700@N07/3650913983/
This was one of the three portraits that show her as a teenager.
I'd LOVE to hear you guys' opinions of the painting!

Jane/Catherine parralells & Mary and Aske
SPOILERS FOR EP.3
I thought the scene where Jane was told of her father's death over a week after it happened, even thoguh Edward knew about it long before was similar to what actually happened to Catherin in which she wasn't old about her father's death until ver a month after news reached England 9as she was confined at the time and they thought her grief might harm the child)
Also I loved the scene with Mary and Aske, it was so cute!!!
Oh and another thing they mentioned the city near to were I live in that ep. :O
