Season 2 Episode 9
Did Henry really cry about Anne in real life? Or was that a fictional part of the show?

The Last Day on the set
It was raining that day and the November wind whipped around our costumes. About fifty of us were ushered in to the throneroom and the scene was explained to us. It was part of Henry's final days. That morning we had done a scene by which we had surrounded the King drinking and making merry and in came a distressed Queen Catherine ( Joley Richardson) who had been advised that the King was contemplating her execution. She then gave her ' I am but a woman' speech and re-assured the King that she loved him and that she would never betray him. The King accepted this and when the Queen left we continued our merrymaking. Not easy to do and all I can say that is that cranberry juice is a poor substitute for red wine. Even the King was of this opinion and assured us all that should he ever really become King this would be changed. We blamed him anyway and the banter continued. Who says film stars don't have a sense of humour. Johnathon really enjoyed the craic.
The afternoon was taken with one of the final scenes. Bishop Gardiner requested an audience and when the king refused to see him he was asked to leave court. The Bishop (Siman Ward) was superb. The look of hurt and dissopointment on his face told everything. He is a superb actor. The final take came and the Director (as is the custom when any actor does their last scene) announced that this was the final scene for the extras. The actors gave us a standing ovation and after much best wishs we left Henry's Court for the final time. Back to reality but with countless memories of all the good times, of friendships and laughs and the knowledge that we had all played a part in one of the finest historical series ever produced. I left the studio with a tear in my eye that evening and later on raised a glass to all the superb actors who contributed. When you watch the last episode and you see Gardiner being refused entry I am the old councillor glaring at him as he turns and walks from court.

Open Questions & Disappointments
People will spend a good part of Monday gushing with belated love for this series. Once you're through with that, come here. If you have any quips, qualms, or questions about the finale, leave them here so your fellow Tudor fans can discuss and answer them for you. For me:
-What was up with Elizabeth stomping out of the room rudely after her father left? Grief or a bit of resentment? -Kinda disappointed that our epilogue was only words on a screen restating facts we already knew. (Edward would die, Mary would be Bloody, Elizabeth would be great, etc.). They could have added some visual aids or even flash-forwards throughout the episode. I'm particularly interested in the Kate Parr and Tom Seymour affair. It's odd that they wouldn't mention that.
Other than that , I found the finale visually stimulating and satisfying. Thanks for commenting!

I can't believe it's over
I can truthfully say this is the first show I actually feel really sad about seeing it go. It was a very beautiful and emotional ending. Still, I crave to see more of this interesting dynasty.
What did everyone think about the wives coming back? I love how they just gave him hell. I will say it was wonderful to see Natalie as Anne again too.
At one point I was a little confused as to way when Henry was sending Kate, Mary, and Elizabeth away. Catherine and Mary were obviously emotional, but Elizabeth kept her composure quite well. I thought on it and maybe it's to show that what Anne's ghost said was true, that Elizabeth was like her perfected version (according to the King's standards). She tries to show little bad emotion as possible and held back her tears for her Father's sake. At least that's just how I think of it.

Why I loved this episode!
Gardiner, Risley, and Richard Rich: Before this trio came along, I had never before felt genuine rage towards any Tudors character. I had been upset or disgusted by a character's actions, but never before had I visions of reaching into the television and strangling them. All three actors did a wonderful job, though I will say that the evolution of Risley and Rich was a little sudden for my tastes.
Anne Askew: This is perhaps one of the most heartbreaking stories within the series. Being a Protestant Christian myself, whose ancestors hailed from England, I was really glad that they introduced Anne Askew, in that it gave me a more socially broad picture of reformers in England.
Anne Stanhope: I had been waiting for her to do something humane all season and finally it happend! I started crying the moment Anne Stanhope gave the executioner the bag and only recovered ten minutes after Askew's execution. Their exchanged glances during that scene were likewise beautifully done, and I like to believe that in Askew's final moments, Askew didn't feel so alone. Emma Hamilton, I really hope that you have a long and successful career.
Henry Howard and Edward Seymour: Though his behavior did not warrant it, Henry Howard had one of the best demises in the course of the show. All of the other individuals who were executed in the show all begged for mercy or at least showed some form of submission to the king, but not Surrey. He went down like he lived, arrogant and entitled, and I truly respect him for it, for not changing who he was even in the face of death. I am also pleased with how they ended the rivalry between Surrey and Seymour. Seymour had finally accomplished what he had been dreaming off all season, the fall of Surrey, and yet, you could tell that Seymour wasn't entirely pleased. Surrey was gone, but Seymour knew he really didn't win.
Gosh, I can't wait for the finale!

The last days of Henry VIII
I have always wondered since a girl in High School about the final days of Henry VIII.
It seems that I can find very little to appease my curiosity about Henry's last days. I know where he died. When. Possibly how he died. Some of the people with him when he died. But did Henry know he was dying? Did he get to say a final goodbye to KP? Goodbye to his kids? IF so then WHAT did he say to them all. And do you believe the dogs really licked Henry's blood from the floor? OR was that an old 'tale' told was it really true????

Henry VIII and Kate Parr: Love Affair?
Will the marriage between Henry VIII and Katherine Parr be a love affair? Will a reluctant Kate fall in love with her husband? Will Henry fall in love with his "Kate"? Or... Will Kate be seeing Thomas Seymour on the side? What kind of Kate will we see? What kind of impact will Henry's death have on Kate? What kind of marrage do you predict for Henry and Kate?
-
Edward Tudor: Spoiled Brat?
What will Edward Tudor be like? Will he be a brat? Will he be 'sickly"? Will Henry spoil him rotten? What kind of relationship will Edward have with Elizabeth? Mary? Will he favor one sister over the other? Who? I am wondering how Hirst will potray Edward this final season///How bout you?

What do you predict for the Tudors final season? and beyond!
What do you predict for THE TUDORS Season 4? Do you think that Hirst will bring back THE TUDORS featuring Henry's children as rulers of England? Do you feel from what little we have seen so far that this will be the best or worst season? What about the actors/actresses will they gain major award nominations?
Will we hate to see Little Kitty Howard die? Will we cheer or cry or both when she dies? Will we see Charles Brandon die? What do you think Henry's reaction to Charles' death be like? Will we see Henry on his death bed? So many questions I would love to see your predictions for it ALL!!!
