Why are there still HA's around?
So I've been around a couple of Tudor buildings recently and I've noticed there are still a few emblems/crests with the initials HA still on them. Why didn't Henry have them destroyed? I thought he wanted to get rid of all things that reminded him of Anne, including her portraits and even banishing Elizabeth for a short time. Can anyway shed any information on this? Were they simply overlooked? Was it too expensive to redo? Does the 'A' actually stand for Anne of Cleves?

Hampton Court Palace - The ceiling of the Anne Boleyn Gate
This is a question for royalfalcon mainly but if anyone else knows, please chime in!
Carol, see this pic that I recently took of the ceiling of the Anne Boleyn Gate above? It looks different to most pics I have seen of this. It has been painted. I remember it unpainted with the initials HA in the middle. Also what do the initials VR and TC stand for? Next time you are there, can you ask the powers that be, if it has been changed and what it all means?
Thanks!

W-H-Y?
Amazingly I visited Hampton Court Palace three days ago and I was wondering why they only opened the King's apartments, the dining room and the throne room to the public. I wanted to know when Edward (VI) took the throne, did he move into the King's apartments? And if he didn't I wanted to see his chambers and also Mary's. I was disappointed that I barely saw half of the Tudor half of HCP.

'Henry's Women' exhibit
This year Hampton Court has several exhibitions based on Henry VIII's life in connection to the 500th anniversary of his accession. Amongst these is an exhibition entitled "Henry's Women", which focuses on his wives and daughters. Some of the paintings included have not been shown before to the public, namely the paintings of Katherine Parr and Anne of Cleves. The exhibition begins on the 10th April, 2009.
