Renaissance Festival Gown 2010
I made this Tudor inspired gown last year. I modified a dress found at the local Goodwill. I added the embroidered cream material and bead work. This costume took 2nd place in the costume contest.

Costumes and Dress
Hello all,
I know how some people feel about the character Margaret Tudor in the series (that she isn't necessary and that we could easily distinguish between Margaret and Mary Tudor and Queen Mary etc) but I do think that she is a wonderful character during the first season despite this. This is partly because of the wonderful costumes she wears.
What are your favourite costumes from the show?
Which do you prefer: Tudor or Elizabethan clothes?
p.s: if anyone has any good photos of Margaret could they contact me - I need inspiration for my designs ;) Thank you x

Style of the 1530's
The french did have a more stylized fashion at the time with using a Spanish farthingale to produce a smooth layering of the skirts and petticoats with out the high neck of the Spanish style gown. The french hood is very popular even into Elizabeth's time it does change shape over time if you look at painting from various eras in the 15oo's forward. I do still like the English gabled hood as a interesting strictly English headdress. It best suits a woman with a more angular facial features, I have a nice jawline and it accentuates that nicely. I hope to post pics of me in that style hood soon.
