Jane Parker
"If anyone is interested, there is a brand new biography of Jane Parker/Boleyn , later Lady Rochford called "Jane Boleyn: the True Story of the Infamous Lady Rochford" by Julia Fox. I had never before seen anything written on her. This historically researched book purports to salvage the reputation Jane Parker/Boleyn has been saddled with. I haven't started it yet; I am still working on Alison Weir's "The Six Wives of Henry VIII"." There is a thread about Jane Parker and the new book located at the bottom of" The Tudors Historical Inaccuracies and Mysteries " called : "Jane "Parker" Boleyn, (Lady Rochford). I bought the book by Julia Fox but still havent had time to read it.

I'm reading " The six Wives ..."
Well, yes, from what I have been reading, there are many historical inaccuracies in the Tudors, but I found that many things as described in Fraser's books were exactly shown in The Tudors. Maybe those same moments are the ones that leave no doubt in history and maybe they are the ones historically accurate in the show. Reading the book I could " see" many scenes from the show. I will try to get the other book you mention on the wives, it is difficult here in Argentina since I don't guess there were many interested people until the show started ot The other Boleyn girl was released.

Concerning that Philipa Gregory
I have read many non-fiction, as well as historical fiction, novels pertaining to the Tudor period, as well as Elizabethan England. (I myself write historical fiction for fun, and hope to someday look into publishing) I would like to say, though, that anyone who becomes enamoured with reading Philipa Gregory is doing themselves an IMMENSE disservice. Well it is fine to embellish stories, add things, or pick a side in a historical mystery, Gregory plays fast and loose far too much (The Other Boleyn Girl, for instance, did every disservice to Anne possible, and somewhat supported the 'incest with brother George', and it disgusts me!) She (Gregory) has admitted to not being too concerned with much of the real history, and it certainly does show! Please read other authors who atl east have a better understanding of the framework of individual Tudor lives, and the time period. Stay away from glamourous Philipa Gregory books, the truth is just as, if not far more interesting! Does anyone agree with my distaste for Ms. Gregory's effort at historical fiction?

Leave George alone
"If you don't think some people believe this is real may I suggest you read the various comments. Yes people do get confused, as can clearly be seen from comments such as, George was a vile rapist who deserved all he got. May I say your comment was not constructive. As for Gregory, why on earth mention her? Your need to do so merely confirms my viewpoint. " I mention Gregory for the reasons stated by Conyle. Gregory takes enormous liberties with history, and then tries to palm her appalling bodice rippers off as meticulously well researched, scholarly fiction. She even thinks that she is a historian in the Schama/Starkey vein. Unlike Michael Hirst, who once described "The Tudors" as a historical "soap-opera". Now, I've read comments from people who are confused before, but it is rare on this board (compare this board, to IMDB's TOBG and Tudors boards, and you'll see what I mean). All of these adaptations, from The Tudors to A Man For All Seasons, are a double edged sword, in that they are littered with inaccuracies, however they have mass appeal and often draw people into that time period and often leads to more scholarly research/study. You seem to have come bulldozing in here with a slight superiority complex to preach at us and make us see the error of our bodice-ripping ways. Quite frankly, there is no need. Almost everyone here was read at least one G.R Elton/David Starkey/Simon Schama book (I'm partial to Elton, myself) and some of us (I included), have even book marked British History Online, and gone so far as to consult primary sources. So there you have it. No one here believes George Boleyn was a raving homosexual, wife raping, incestuous na'er do well. He was a wominser though.
Thanks to Reggie for your defence there!!

Brandon's Son
I've always been confounded as to who was the mother of Brandon's son. For a while a assumed he must be an illegitimate son from one of Charles many conquests. I was on the season 1 innacuracies page yesterday though, and it said that there was a deleted scene that showed Princess Margaret pregnant! Has anyone seen or heard of this scene? Here is the link to the page I was refering to:

The Gloating Gang
"I don't think Katherine Brandon is supposed to be a reformer on the show. They even changed her name from Willoughby to Brooke! But I think Edwards wife was there because she had been involved in the plotting before. They showed a scene in the previews where she dresses up Katherine Howard to make her more appealing to the King, but I guess that scene got cut and wasn't aired?" I was wondering about her name alright because i thought she was a relation of Elizabeth Brooke (Thomas Wyatt's wife), but thanks for clearing that up Nofretete. But does the series really have to confuse us will all these inaccuracies and incontinuities, if we had seen Anne dressing Kathryn to make her more presentable, it would have made a bit (only a little bit) more sense for her to be with her husband, Bryan, and Brandon as they discussed Cromwell's demise, those little tidbits really are quite senseless at the best of times!
