Big break: Although she had more acting experience, her sister, Emma Bolger, got the part in In America (2002) first by impressing director Jim Sheridan at an audition. Emma then demanded that Jim take a look at her sister (who was waiting in the car), which he did, and realised they were perfect together.

Awards: Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards (2004) Best Performance by Youth in a Lead or Supporting Role - Female for In America and stealing the hearts of millions singing "Desperado" in the film. Nominated for a Shooting Star Award by the 2009 International Film Festival.

  • ‘The Tudors’ is completely different from, I think, anything really that I’ve done before. Princess Mary is a dark character who has been suppressed her whole life and she’s so devoted to the Catholic religion and feels that that’s her only escape. It’s the only thing that’s looking after her because she’s forbidden from seeing her mother and her dad doesn’t want to see her because he’s gone off with Anne Boleyn and I think it’s such a different role from this like feisty, bubbly Mallory. Actually, the sword fight would probably come in handy with Mary. I’m so sure she’s going to kill someone at some stage. Q: Well, she is Bloody Mary. Sarah: She is indeed. She killed so many Protestants.
  • (on choosing roles which display inner strength and confidence) I have to admit that I do try and chose roles like that with women who are strong characters and good role models and not damsels in distress.

  • I love reading scripts and I love understanding a character and getting into that character. I'm no a method actress in any sense but I enjoy "being" that character and working at it and I do a lot of research on the characters.

  • First major acting role was in the film "In America" which she co-stared with her sister Emma Bolger.
  • During Sarah's 14th birthday which coincided with the 2005 Independent Spirit Awards,the whole audience, including Tom Cruise sang "Happy Birthday" to her at the show.
  • Aside from continuing a career in acting, Sarah would like to pursue studies in Astronomy. She is also interested in law, writing and computers and may take any of those up in college.

I am completely impressed with this young lady's portrayal of Princess Mary. Her acting ability far exceeds those one would expect of a 19 year-old. She brings graciousness and gentleness to the role. Let's hope TV/movie viewers get to see a lot more of her!

I think Sarah deserves praise for what she has done for Mary Tudor. She has transformed the image of Mary from a disgusting old religous fanatic into a beautiful young woman who suffered horribly throughout her life. Yet still found it in her heart to love the daughter of her enemy and her baby brother who has taken her place as heir. Sarah and the writers should be appluaded. Now whenever I think of Mary I dont see that woman from Elizabeth(1998). There is very little mentions of Mary's future religous beliefs. You see how horrible her life was and why she seemed so irrational when it came to Catholicism and Phillip when she became queen.

Sarah has a new film coming out towards the end of this year called Iron Cross, also starring Roy Scheider!!! She plays the main character's love interest during flashbacks to his youth in WWII. I have seen the trailer online (you can find the link to download it if you google "Iron Cross,") and her performance is going to be great!!! I am so excited to see Iron Cross!!!
