I have learnt something quite odd. In the medieval time, cats were seen as the symbol as the devil. Under her reign, Mary I would have cats burnt because they represented the " devil": the prostestant beliefs. And it when the same under Elizabeth I, for the opposite reason: representation of catholic beliefs.
Here is the link to the video where I learnt this ( It is in French): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUUkiL_tnSg&feature=g-all-u&context=G23d0a1dFAAAAAAAACAA What do you think of it?

I think it is the same in others countries like the UK or the USA with others names though, but in France each day of the year honours a saint. Mary died the seventeeth of november. And in France, the seventeeth of nomvember is the day of... Saint Elizabeth. Funny, isn't it?

I have such respect for Mary accepting Elizabeth as her sister after her mother's exection. Mary hated Anne, and had every justification in hating Elizabeth also, but she didn't. She acted as a substitute mother to the little girl, and overlooked who her mother was, and what she did to her. What are your views on Mary and Elizabeth's relationship?

I was wondering in anyone out there was thinking along the lines as I was in regards to Princess Mary's health.
From what I have read about her, she was born weak and sick. She never recovered. Based on how they discribed her she was premature and never recovered from all the illness she had as a baby. Poor eye sight that she squited alot, allergy problems and at times had to be in bed from her illness. This show always have me researching informaion about the look of this person, their personality, and etc. I was wondering how it was not placed in the series about her medical issues that impacted her life. Are they trying to saying when she was in the public's eye people did not know this about her? Or they decided to leave this out of the series? What are your thoughts on this?

How much did King Henry truly love Mary. In season 1 he states that she is the pearl of his world however he willingly casts her aside in favor of the children he would have for Anne Boleyn. she was clearly not a son that he wanted, but in reality, how much id he actually love her?

90% of the time, the media portrays Mary with brown to black hair. However, a lot of sources tell me that Mary had red hair like her father and sister. For me, the childhood miniature of her is the only portrait to support this argument. All her adult pictures have her hair as dark brown. There is also a portrait of her as a young adult, the one with the orange dress. There it looks golden brown, which kind of makes me think that it was reddish blonde or auburn at some point but muddied with age. I've heard of hair going from blonde to brown with age, but not red to brown.
Any explanations for how it shows up in the pictures? Because I have a lot of idiot friends that insist on thinking that Mary was a black-haired, black hearted tyrant of Mexican descent that was jealous of her fair sister, Elizabeth. I'm sure the portraits they've seen play a part in this.

I just notice something strange ( well at least to me it's strange) but expect for Jane Seymour, most of Henry wives seem to have a more of a soft heart for Elizabeth, but just acknowledge Mary as Henry's daughter, so i wonder if this still play in her mind when she became Queen and took out all that anger on Elizabeth because of it

To those who have seen the clips or the entire first two episodes; do you think the writers are going to have Mary take part in Catherine's downfall?

look what i found!
"Mary engaged again in 1539. The newcomer Philip of Bavaria, had courted her in Westmister without knowing the position of the king's daughter. Although opposed by religious ideas (Philip was Lutheran), they spoke in Latin, French and German by a translator. The ambassador wrote to Francis I, there was a kiss on the lips when he's gone. The king made him as Knight of the Garter. With the elevation, all court thought that there would be a marriage between Mary and Philip. How is not new, the marriage was never realized".. Do you think that the series will show this "kiss"???

Will Sarah Bolger play Mary in season 4 as Mary would be in her 30's
I think Sarah is a great actress Plus it's time to have a human Mary rather then a bloody Mary as they always have her in the movies

How do you think Katherine and Marys relationship will be portrayed in season 4 as in real life at first they didn't get on and Katherine had two of her maids sacked. I'm wondering what road they're going to take seeing as they've portrayed Mary as not not liking Anne of Cleve's when really they had a great relationship?

I thought it would make a good topic You know in 301 when everyone is telling Mary if she does not sign the paper about her parents marriage and Henry being the head of the church Henry might put her in the tower. Do you guys think he would actually do that or even worse. I am not totally sure he would of but you never know.

i like her it wasnt her fault her childhood was hell like jane said in episode i it wasnt her fault that she was born to a king. some members blame henry and some katherine but back then if a son was born it was awsome for the king but a daughter kings used them for politics. as many books i have read she was a happy child until her parents got into the divorce thing, and her world was broken. in our times kids are used by their parents during divorces and they lives changed not like marys but i bet they felt the same way that mary did

From what I've read of her life, what Mary wanted more than crown or power was to be a good wife and mother just as her mother was? I can see that in season 1 Henry was always using her to form new alliances here and there when it suited his needs and she was too young to marry. And if she had married the Dauphin of France and had children, The Tudors could have been rulers of England and all of France. I can see his point that if she was part of the succession and he had no sons, her husband could be viewed as "King", but after he cut her out of the succession and after Edward was born what was his excuse? Did he use her as a surrogate mother for Edward and Elizabeth so couldn't spare her or was he just more interested in his own love life? It's a shame she was denied her heart's desire, until she was too old to have the children she desired.
****Spoiler Alert for Episode 4***** Mary seemed quite please with the prospect of the arrangement brought to her in episode 4. And she seemed very fond of Elizabeth. I could understand why she would refuse to execute Elizabeth when she was Queen and her advisors were pressing her on the matter.

Mary had been deprived of almost all of her jewels as punishment for her continued intransigence ane was just beginning to build up her collection and wardrobe when Jane Seymour died; she was given some of the jewellry that had belonged to the Queen.
Mary became a fashion trendsetter. In her 20's she f avored French gowns with turned up sleeves revealing rich, velvet facings. She wore square, open necks that could be filled in with a partlet (same or contrasting color). Her gowns were often cloth of gold or silver, high collard, open at the neck revealing liinings of coloured silk embroidery on linen. Ten years later, she was definitely leading fashion. She was also fond of "night gowns" - not for sleeping but for relaxed evening wear: 15 yards of black velvet lined with satin, example. So she was not dowdy or dour, as portrayed. I'm looking forward to watching her fashions on coming episodes.
