Full beards gained popularity when Kings Henry and Francis swore not to shave
until they had met at the Field of Cloth of Gold. Katherine of Aragon was not fond
of this look on her husband and he shaved it off but as time went on and the
hair on Henry's head grew thinner, his beard grew bigger.
