INTERVIE\WS:

    MEMORABLE QUOTES

    • "I was like, 'Why do you want me? I'm a singer, for Christ's sake.' I don't know why [Fangmeier] wanted me, but he did. I'm always getting approached for films—maybe they see me onstage and see the way I get all emotional. But I was like, 'Hey, let's do it.' I never really take anything seriously until I have to, and acting is fun. I never thought I'd do it, but hey, why not, man?" - Joss Stone about being cast in the movie Eragon
    • "I just wanted to challenge myself. There are things in the film that are going to really push the boundaries, and that excites me." (about her role as a lesbian entertainment manager in "Snappers")

    • "At the end of the day, I don't give a **** if people have a problem with my accent. That's all I can say about it. The words I say do not change. If the way that it sounds is skewwhiff and you don't like it, don't listen. I'm not being a cruel person by sounding a different way. And I can't help it. I've been [in America working] since I was, like, 14. All I'm doing is working. I do my job, and I go home " [concerning the british media's charge that she sounds more american than english]

    • "She wears frumpy clothes...none of the sexy English corsets. I'm a German wierdo. I had to have a bloody German accent and play the harpsicord" on her character Anne of Cleves, from USA Today

    • Anne wasn’t exactly a hottie,” Stone says with a laugh. “But I connected with her insecurity because I was just as nervous when I stepped on the set. She was scared. I like doing things that are difficult. I like the thrill of not knowing. Throwing yourself headfirst into the deep end is my kind of fun.” There were, however, a few modern touches that got in the way of playing Anne. “I had to take out my nose ring,” says Stone. “And the makeup man had to work real hard to cover my tattoos.” from Parade Magazine

    • What about historical accuracy? Michael Hirst believes that The Tudors brings out into the open the gaps and contradictions in the historical record that academic history shies away from. “Of course, there are certain facts which are incontrovertible,” he says, “but beyond that there’s just interpretation and there are surprisingly few sources. So I discovered that the truth is variable and I also discovered that most historians are very bad psychologists: They don’t tell you very much about the human relationships in history. I’ve discovered that nearly all the caricatures of Henry’s wives for instance, are nonsense or only tell a little bit of the story.”
One such caricature he identifies is Anne of Cleves (Joss Stone). “There’s no doubt - reading the records and between the lines - that he was impotent when he married Anne of Cleves,” says Michael, “and that was the problem. She wasn’t ugly and smelly. Which accounts for his rage and accounts for getting rid of her.”
    FUN FACTS
    • First CD she bought was Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits
    • Supports Liverpool Football Club
    • Is a Vegetarian (from birth)
    • She ranked #78 in Maxim Magazine's Hot 100 0f 2007
    • Joss has worked with Irish voice coach Pol Moussoulides to attain a German accent for her role in The Tudors
    • Joss wanted to play Jane Seymour in The Tudors but her touring scheudle was too busy, instead she was cast as Anne of Cleves
    • Joss can been seen singing with Justin Hawkins from the Darkness in "Band Aid 20" Do They Know It's Christmas Clip

I read in The Sun today, a British newspaper, that Joss Stone will play an "ugly" Anne of Cleves, who orders her out of his bedroom. Does anyone know anymore about this??

....Henry with a PASSION when he is mean to Anne of Cleves - Joss. She looks entirely vunerable and innocent and wanting to please. I have not seen Ep. 7, but from what I have read....well, and the way JRM can give those hateful, killer looks. This will be as bad for me as an exeuction - sort of a "soul-heading" if you know what I mean...lol KOB
