The Tudors heart-throb said the two different names enabled him to separate his work life from his personal life. "Jonathan Rhys-Meyers was the name I wanted the world to know me by, and not my birth name," he said. "I wanted to create almost this different person, which I suppose doesn't really exist. "People think it's all premieres and parties and glamour. And I suppose Jonathan Rhys-Meyers has some of that. "But Johnny actually sits at home, plays his guitar badly and hangs out with his friends. "It's good that there's a line for me to draw," he added. ... The actor also revealed that, if he wasn't lighting up the big screen, he would have like to have become good enough at playing the guitar to become a musician. "I play music -- I just never wanted to do it as a job," he said. "My father is a musician, my brothers are musicians. "But if I had pushed it, I am sure I could have learned to be a bit better, to promote it," he added.

"NBC has sunk its teeth into Dracula. The network has ordered 10 episodes of the drama series, tapping The Tudors' Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play the famous vampire in what NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt dubbed a "new version of the classic Bram Stoker" tale. The series, which bypassed the traditional pilot stage, takes place in the 1890s and finds Dracula living a double life in London as an American businessman interested in bringing modern science to Victorian society. His true plan to exact revenge on those who burdened him centuries ago, however, is derailed when he falls in love with a ? Dracula unites Greenblatt -- who noted Tuesday morning at TCA that he had other big announcements that weren't quite ready at the time of his executive session -- with his former star Meyers, whom he cast on the Showtime period drama and cast as Elvis Presley on the telepic Elvis. "In the world of Twilight and True Blood and all the contemporized stories, we thought we'd go back to the original," he told reporters Tuesday at TCA, noting that the series would stay true to the time period but look toward the future. Dracula, a co-production from British Sky Broadcasting, Carnival Films & Television, Flame Ventures and NBCuniversal, hails from Tony Krantz (24, Sports Night) and former HBO Films president Colin Callender and writer/creator Cole Haddon (who will co-exec produce) and will be produced for NBC stateside and the U.K.'s Sky Living. Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey) and Anne Mensah are also on board, along with Reece Pearson, who will also serve as a co-EP. Additional castings and production details will be announced at a later date. Cops help save TV star TROUBLED telly hunk Jonathan Rhys Meyers was taken to hospital by ambulance after a suspected suicide attempt. Hellraiser Meyers - Henry VIII in BBC series The Tudors - is believed to have downed pills at his £3million home. Paramedics answering a 999 call found him slumped on the floor. But they had to call police after he refused treatment at the scene for more than 30 minutes. A source said: "This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life." The 33-year-old - who has been battling a drink problem - was finally taken to a hospital near his home in Maida Vale, Central London, on Tuesday night.
