I couldn't agree more. Jane did the same thing Anne did. However, the differences to me were, Anne was more open about it. Jane more deceptive, pretending she was sweet and innocent. I just see a different side to it. My daughter told me years ago that she had a conversation with my mother about the differences between my sister and I when we were growing up. From what my daughter told me, my mother said, my sister was sneaky and devious, would outright deny something when she was caught. Therefore she couldn't believe her. I on the other hand, would admit when I got caught. I also didn't try to hide it that much to begin with..lol. hense, my mother was more inclined to believe me. The same thing went for my daughter and son. My daughter was more inclined to admit something, whereas my son would deny. They both stole from me. My son complained that I gave my daughter a second chance and denied him one. (which wasn't true, he had more second chances than she did.) Bottom line, I told him, the difference was she admitted it, while he denied it.

Jane- sneaky and devious.
Anne- upfront and more honest. Not saying she was totally honest, just more so.

"My first reaction is to think that Jane did not realize she was going to die. From what I understand, she rallied and then quickly deteriorated/became unconscious. From working in the nursing homes, I have seen people up having a grand time on Friday and at death's door the next day. People with infections usually get more sleepy than anything - they continue to have normal conversations and many think they'll snap out of it. Then they lapse into the next phase...if anything, the survival instinct of people is amazing.

I think Jane thought she was sick, but not knowing about the puerpal fever, spiked a temp and the infection took a rapid turn. While sick, I imagine she wanted to get up and be with her baby. It must have been distressing to see everyone hovering over her and wearing expressions of alarm and grief. Still, I have seen this and the person answer (in a whisper) what's wrong with you? I feel fine. My mother faded away just like this within a 24 hour period. I realized what was happening and started calling every friend she had and putting her on the phone. She said, "come on over - when are you coming to see me?" She just got weaker and weaker, but even when she whispered she was saying "Hi! How are you!" I can't say anymore. XO God Bless"

"A priest is a priest until death. The validity of his sacramental authority does not come from him as a human being, he is a vehicle (host) for Christ. Unless he is specifically prohibited from exercising his priesthood, and that is a good example of the church moving carefully again. I should have used "reformist" instead of "protestant" when speaking of Crammer. I am sure when he was given his ecclesial office by Rome, it was not with the intention of exercising it under the Anglican church. I never indicated that Jane would persuade Henry, the contrary, I thought perhaps Henry may challenge Jane to embrace the Anglican faith, inasmuch as he was angered by his ex-communication and people were punished (More, Fisher executed) by questioning his divine right.

My position is that throughout history there have been schisms and new religions. However, the Catholic church stands intact. There have been corrupt popes and good popes, but the office of pope is still the head of the church. Anything else is a different church. Henry VIII was the only King who decided to make it over into his church, sacraments or not. His church is not the Roman Catholic church. I am not looking at it with "modern" eyes, but with its historical authenticity, and basically, I agree with Thomas More, and would have lost my head, too. "

I'm an Anne fan, but I in no way think she was a saint, I just find her fascinating and I probably couldn't even explain why! I have a great deal of admiration for KOA who I actually consider to be Henry's one true queen. The way in which she handled herself is admirable, in those times and today. I think Anne fascinates people because for her times she was a woman more like a modern woman, so people can relate to that?
I also think Jane was very much a pawn, and an innocent character. I do not think she could have influenced what happened to Anne at all - when Henry made his mind up about something that was it! But in the same way I think Henry had made his mind up about KOA and, if it had not been Anne he was pursuing, it would have been someone else.
Like I've said before, I admire all the queens for different reasons and do not think any of them were villains - imho the only villain was Henry.
