The last time the triple hoop ring, inscribed "Darling Wallis" with her birth date "19.6," was sold was at Sotheby's "auction of the century" of the Duchess's breathtaking jewellery collection which grossed $50 million in 1987. It was one of two triple hoop gold rings the Duke wore on the little finger of his left hand and the pair fetched £18,000 in the glittering sale at the Hotel Beau Rivage overlooking Lake Geneva.
