In the photograph, the Princess is wearing the insignia of the Order of the Garter, and the Meander Tiara, which was a wedding gift to The Queen from Prince Philip's mother, Princess Andrew of Greece. The word 'meander' derives from the River Maiandros, which in ancient Greece inspired a classical design of regular lines set at right angles to each other, commonly known as the key pattern.
