I have sent out a general message to members informing everybody of the Tudor Series Study. This will be the thread for us all to discuss any aspect of the programme that we wish. It has been suggested that we aim for one episode a week. So we will start off with the first episode and try to get any discussion on that finished by Sunday 29th January. If comments from the first week spill over onto the second it will be okay but if we can try to keep to one episode a week that would be helpful. Also I should point out that if you can only comment occasionally on an episode that is fine.

We have just seen the very last episode of The Tudors here in the U.K and I I thought it was amazing and so beautiful. My close friend Anne (Kittywake) and I have been discussing each episode of Season 4 amongst ourselves because we were aware that most members here had already seen it in their Countries.. I want to comment now though,. I would like to thank everybody that has been involved in the making of The Tudors, all the actors, the production team, Joan Bergin for her wonderful costumes and most of all to Jonathan for giving us a unique Henry that will stay forever in my memory. Just as well I have all the DVD's so I can watch it over again..

This was an up and down ep. for me. I liked the court dealings and the way that Henry and Katherine's relationship is unfolding. His insanity is coming out a bit too. But I found the battle scene stuff a bit tedious -- particularly when they were chasing after the group of frenchmen who ambushed them. The fighting seemed sluggish. Maybe it's just not my thing.

In january 28th of 1547 thats when Henry VIII died at whitehall palace leaving his ten year old son, Edward VI on the throne thats when he became king after his father's death about 3 day before edward VI was crowned at westminster Abbey.

It has been quite awhile since I have commented on much. I have watching season 3 with deep appreciation, of the integrity of the acting, and stagecraft of the entire cast. I never doubted Michael Hirst 's ability to continue this incredible blockbuster, but am nevertheless AMAZED, at how great season 3 is.
JRM has perfectly depicted the emotional and psychological downfall of this deeply divided man, and still not needing to have his coloring, or heavy set obesity.
He has been remarkable in his understanding of the division between Henry the King, anf Henry the man. At the center of this split, he struggles against God and what God sees for England. Yes, he wanted a break with Rome, prompted by his desire to have Anne. However, now that Jane is dead, he reverts to his very traditional beliefs about Christianity. Spiritually, he is a Christian, and insists on making his doctrine very clear for his people. Conserative liturgy and prayer, but no Rome. He doesn't even want Cramner to be consulted. Why? Because he wants to rid himself of all the now heretics who were Anne's core faction at court. He no longer wants anymore reforms to throw the kingdom into confussion. He wants to return to his core beliefs. He is still Henry the King, but finds that he needs to supress Henry the Man. He is so divided, that he is plunged into darkness.
Another greatly evolved performance is Brandon. Henry Cavill has done an extrodordinary job taking the young carefree Suffolk, who was often wreckless, and shallow, into a mature and deeply loyal man, who has been asked to do the unthinkable for his King, and friend.
We see the impact from the Pilgramage of Grace, and the loss of good men like Aske, and Darcy has done to his own value system. I genuinely cried for him.
