 Birth Place: London, England Eye Color: Height: Family: Education: Actor Bio: The son of a car dealer, the British actor Simon Ward was born in London, England, in 1941, and educated there at Alleyn's School, the home of the National Youth Theatre, which he joined at age 13 and stayed with for eight years. After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he worked in repertory in Northampton, Birmingham and Oxford, and occasionally in London's West End. His big break in theater came in 1967 when he played in <a class="external" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0651358/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Joe Orton</a>'s "Loot" which led to a number of small film and television roles. He once claimed that his career suffered due to the chronic blood disorder polycythaemia, which he believed he developed as a result of an assault in 1987 that left him with a broken skull and in need of brain surgery. Moving from London to Somerset a decade ago reduced Ward's hunger for work and he said he preferred to spend time with his children and six grandchildren. He said: "I've never desperately wanted anything, neither fame nor riches." Ward's daughter Sophie confirmed this weekend that her father had died on Friday [July 20th, 2012] after a long illness. She was at his bedside with her mother Alexandra and sisters Claudia and Kitty, the wife of comedian Michael McIntyre.
