Something has to trigger your interest, and for most people, it is not something academic LOL!!! That is why I have no problem with the "pop" version of anything. It could change a person's life. If somebody is interested, they can then start on a journey that is very life enhancing!!

Also she was friends with Charles brandons wife, best friends in fact and he was not known to be a staunch reformer was he? infact he was more prone to the old england under catholic rule so no doubt the gossip mill was a light with speculation from Catherine s so called 'friends' too although I was unaware that lady mary was resentful of Catherine and I know she loved her very much, at least to begin with. She was in fact a woman ahead of her time, who was very clever in the way she appealed to the king and the way the tudors did that was good as she did use her "weakness as a woman" to sway henrys anger as history would have it anyway.

I personally thought Kate parr was great, she was indeed a noble queen and it would seem she had no hidden agendas that would be used to her own gain, she was a reformer because she believed that the country would be better if everyone was able to read the bible and take communion and so forth, it was not about her gaining wealth or popularity

If my husband had have told me that he was going to kill some 30,000 people, men women and children and then hatch a plot to have the first minister executed as he is responsible for all that is wrong in the first place; I would be down the divorce courts like a shot! However, this is the 21st century and Charles, Henry and Catherine are living in the 16th. Catherine has to find a way to remain as his wife and still show that she is upset and repulsed by the way he is willing to just blindly follow Henry's orders. Or are they Cromwell's orders?

True Charles has to try the main ring leaders and possibly execute about 200 or so, that goes without saying, but does he really have to slaughter the whole lot. I do not believe so and I think he would have told Henry that he was being unreasonable.

Now back to what really happened. Catherine and Charles Brandon did not have any such marriage crisis in 1537 and stayed loyal and loving as a couple until his death in 1545. The entire lot of rebels were not slaughtered on the orders of Cromwell and Henry gave licence for Suffolk and Norfolk to round up the main trouble leaders and execute them and to imprison some and fine others and to let the majority go. There was no mass slaughter; 256 people in total were actually executed. And as to plotting the downfall and death of Cromwell; he only took a small part in that; that was all Norfolk and it was Henry's wish. Sorry to spoil things; but that's the truth.

Catherine and Charles welcomed Henry and Catherine Howard to their home in 1541 on their progress, so it is very clear they were a couple. Oh, and Catherine moved up to Lincolnshire during the rebellion to be close to Charles. That is how disgusted she was at his actions! She totally supported him and prayed for him and he was with her during the final days of the rebellion.

I got Season 4 for christmas and watched it over two nights. My husband had only seen parts of the other series so we will be starting from season one in the new year.

I think it might only be three:

The first son, Edward , was from his first marriage.

Then when he married Anne Stanhope, they had a son Edward who died at two. That same year ( 1539) another boy was born, and he was also named Edward. He is the Edward who went on to marry Catherine Grey, Jane's younger sister.

The whole presentation of the Seymour brothers and the Anne Stanhope intrique was one of the more bizarre inacurracies in the show, I thought.

I also thought they dropped the ball with the role of Thomas Seymour. This was a man who swept the young Elizabeth off her feet, who Catherine Parr was madly in love with and I did not think he was presented as anything near as dashing and charming as he supposedly really was.
