"There was nothing on tv this weekend so I put the tudors on as I was cleaning my apartment. I just noticed something. Henry Cavill never crosses himself in scenes that involve praying. He always makes the sign of the cross as if he is blessing someone.

I'm of the same faith as Henry Cavill, which is Anglican (Episcopal.) Within Anglicanism we range from what's known as Anglo-Catholic on one end (genuflect, pray the Rosary, use prayer candles, etc) which is ACTUALLY what Henry VIII believed in' i.e., BASICALLY the SAME FAITH AND PRACTICE as the Roman Church, but without subservience to the Bishop of Rome (aka the Pope) and with a few other differences in doctrine. From there the scale goes over to other, more-Protestant views. Henry Cavill IS a man of faith and attended Stowe, which is an Anglican school. BUT he falls in with MANY Anglicans who personally don't go for genuflecting (crossing oneself) or other, more "Roman" practices. THEREFORE, he does it the way he does in the series in order to SOMEWHAT play his part, but still not defy his own deep spiritual convictions. To him, peforming ANY act of faith he doesn't go for simply for a role he's playing would be wrong. I think his position on this is admirable and something more of us should take to heart. It also says a great deal of GOOD things about the PERSON Henry Cavill is apart from his role.
