Some of us have been discussing the feeling that we've lived before, specifically during the Renaissance and Tudor times. We feel 'drawn' to the era of Henry VIII and find that some of the the clothing, jewelry and ways of life to be very significant to us. Since I was as young as 2, I've felt that mom's beads and scarfs looked great in my hair, and that somehow not having them there made me feel 'naked'. Of course, to mom they looked ridiculous. But I've always had to wear something in my hair, even today I seldom go out w/out a sparkly barette in my hair, or a flower. Long trailing sleeves and long skirts seemed as natural as breathing to me and when the fashion for long skirts and trailing sleeves came back in the 70's, I was wearing them. I liked the mini's too, I had great legs, lol. But the more I think about it, the more I believe I lived during the Tudor times, and that my love of hair pieces, long dresses w/trains and trailing sleeves is a leftover from that life. Do you feel as though you've lived before this present life? Does the Tudor Period make you feel 'at home'? Tell us about your experiences and why you think you've had a previous life.
Peace, ETR

Hi Tudors Fans !
Fiona here from Self Help Africa,(Irish Charity No:6663; UK Charity No: 298830; we are also a non-profit 501(c) 3 organisation in the United States) Our objective is to offer long-term, sustainable solutions to eradicating poverty in rural Africa. We are currently supporting thousands of women across Africa, who are facing huge challenges on a daily basis to survive and feed their families. For more information visit www.changeherlife.org / www.selfhelpafrica.org . We recently approached well known artists and asked them to think about what it would be like to walk in the shoes of a rural African woman for a day, and we asked a number of VIPs (and their managers!) if they would consider donating a pair of shoes that would help to get our message across to the public. The Costume Mill in Dublin very kindly donated the black suede boots worn by JRM playing the role of King Henry VIII in The Tudors, and we are currenly looking to auction them off to the highest bidder. You can see pictures of the boots on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/inhershoesproject . If you are not in a position to bid but would still like to support the campaign, please click on the link and like the page and also read about more of our work at www.selfhelpafrica.org . Our In Her Shoes initiative will help us raise funds to support many more women who are desperate for our help. Thanks for your time, and if you would like to see any more photos or place a bid, please email me at fiona.kelly@selfhelpafrica.org . :-)

It has been noted that today is the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Margaret, the Countess of Snowdon. I recall at the time of her death how my Barbadian-born parents, who grew up under British rule recounted her many foibles, and well as the undue level of unhappiness she experienced.

Has anyone heard of any really bad historical jokes? The author of the following joke definitely should be arrested for crimes against comedy.....
Why did Henry have so many wives? He liked to chop and change! (boom boom!)

Watch out for this guy, who sent me a PM. He wants us to assist him with transfering $10 million into some bank fund, or something like that. Anyway, it's a total scam, so don't respond to him whatever you do.

I'm sorry to post this here, but I can't think who else/where else to ask. But, is it simple enough to start your own wiki? Some friends and I were talking about starting one devoted to the Wars of The Roses, and as a Plantagenet lover, I'm seriously looking in to this.

For me, one of the most wonderful parts was watching the two brothers, William and Harry and their smiles.

As the Royal wedding approaches in just a few days and speculation grows as to what Kate Middleton will wear....which tiara do you think she will wear? William's mother's tiara is actually not the property of the Royal Family but the Spencer Family.
Check out the Tiaras page and see all the choices she has! http://tudorswiki.sho.com/page/TIARAS+of+the+Tudors+Ladies

There is a programme on in the UK at 9pm on Channel 4 called Meet the Middletons. There is an assortment of Kate's relatives on the show. One is a gem saying it is nice having someone fanous in the family she would rather have Kate than someone like Jordan!! priceless. Another says she would rather she married Harry.

Ok it is not The Tudors and it doesn't have our cast of beloved actors and actresses, but I watched the premiere of this show yesterday evening and it kind of, sort of, in its own way, filled SOME of the gap left by the end of our favourite program.
Now I normally don't like films with scraggily looking characters, but these producers, directors and actors do get something right. The plot is compelling and the actors really engage, which is, after all, what we all enjoyed about the Tudors. Also, it looks like HBO is trying to claim that audience, ( i.e US) as this little bit of a write up puts it: "A lot of ink has been spilled on who the audience is for the new fantasy drama Game of Thrones. HBO is hoping to reach beyond the Dungeons & Dragons set, and co-creator David Benioff even called it “The Sopranos in Middle Earth.” But the show seems more Tudors than Lord of the Rings, despite the welcome presence of Sean Bean as head of one of the many houses introduced in the one-hour pilot last night. While Battlestar Galactica was sci-fi for people who don’t like sci-fi, Game of Thrones is fantasy for people who really like medieval period dramas." So I thought I would just share this with you in case you are down about the end of the Tudors and need a little something to get you by. |
