Hello, my name is Hannah!

Come and subscribe to my King Henry VII blog!

I also have a Thomas Cromwell blog!

Thanks for visiting my profile, why not have a glass of vintage Henry while you're here....?
Tudor Boozer

I'm 31 years old, and I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland; but I'm originally from Liverpool, England.

I've always been interested in History, but only over the last three or four years has my interest in Tudor history really begun, through accidentally picking up the wrong book in a library.

I am especially interested in the Reformation, Thomas
Cromwell, the Rennaissance and the Lutheran movement and the threat they posed the Papacy.

I love authors such as David Starkey, G.R Elton, Schofield, Ian Mortimer and Antonia Fraser.

Non-history authors: Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Hilary Mantel, Shakespeare, Camus, Satre, Salman Rushdie, Irvine Welsh and to be honest, I do have a soft spot for J.K Rowling and Philip Pullman!!

Although I am a keen medieval history geek, I oppose the continued existence of the archaic monarchial/peerage system, and wholeheartedly support an English Republic.

I like modern art by artists such as Tra
cy Emin and Damien Hirst. As well, as older more "traditional" artists.

I'm not a big movie watcher, but there are a few
I really like:
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Trainspotting, Rumblefish, Pan's Labrynth and Anne of the Thousand Days.

Music is my life. I play piano and guitar but not in any kind
of professional capacity.
I love punk/Indie/Rock music like
Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Kasabian, The Clash, The Libertines, Pigeon Detectives, Babyshambles etc, etc, etc...

My heroes include, Richard Dawkins (a leading light in rational thought and atheism), Charles Darwin (for laying the foundations for the above), Emmeline Pankhurst (for making a stand), Janet Street Porter (for continuing to be a thorn in everyone's side) and Germaine Greer (for wit, intelligence and continuing to scare men everywhere). Finally, Tracy Emin (for stripping the guilt away from female sexuality).

My historical heroes are, Thomas Cromwell (for paving the way), Anne Boleyn (for her tenacity), Katherine Parr (for wit, learning and intellect and her willingness to share and pass on these attributes to other women), Henry VIII (needs no explanation!) and Edward IV (even I'm not sure why, I have a very romantic view of him, though).

Thats' about it!

Some of the most beautiful prose in the English language, came from the pen of William Shakespeare:

This royal throne of Kings, This scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise;
This fortress built by Nature for herself, against infection and the hand of war;
This happy breed of men, this little world.
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands.
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm,
This England.

(Richard II, Act 2: Scene 1. William Shakespeare).
