Season: 1 Episode: 2 Character (s): Sir Thomas More to King Henry VIII Actor (s): Jeremy Northam & Jonathan Rhys Meyers Scene: After Henry has lost the wrestling match with King Francis I at the Field of Cloth of Gold & Henry wants to rescind the peace pact. "Alright, if you want the world to know that the King of England is easily changeable, shallow, intemperate, incapable of keeping his word then of course, I will go and tell him. After all, I am merely his majesty's humble servant." Comments: I loved this scene. Sir Thomas had slight control over the king, it was great to watch. Lady_Amber

Season: 1 Episode: 10 Character (s): Sir Thomas More to Bishop John Fisher Actor (s): Jeremy Northam, Bosco Hogan Scene: Sir Thomas More speaks with Bishop John Fisher about the 1500 clergy arrested for recognizing Wolsey's authority following Wolsey's death. More tells Fisher something that Wolsey once told him: "I should only ever tell the king what he ought to do, not what he could do. For if the lion knows his own strength, no man could control him." Comments: This moment is so ominous. It makes both More and Fisher realize that no one has immunity in Henry's kingdom. ~~ hrm_elizabeth

Season: 1 Episode: 3 Character (s):Sir Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk & Sir Thomas Boleyn, Earl of Wiltshire Actor (s): Henry Czerny & Nick Dunning Scene: Norfolk to Thomas Boleyn about his daughter, Anne Boleyn When she opens her legs for him, she can open her mouth to denounce Wolsey. They do say that the sharpest blades are sheathed in the softest pouches". Comments: There's nothing as a loving family, eh? I am so happy I am not a Boleyn! - Chocobasse10

Season: 2 Episode: 5 Character (s): Pope Paul III & Cardinal Lorenzo Campeggio Actor (s): Peter O'Toole & John Kavanagh Scene: Pope Paul, speaking to Cardinal Campeggio about Henry VIII's great matter of discarding one wife for another. "You and I, Campeggio, have done well to avoid the craft of women. Celibacy is an immense relief." Comments: I just loved the deliciously sardonic way that Peter O'Toole delivered this line - MsSquirrly I love this because in the series you see both Pope's grandson, and Campeggio's son. The irony is very amusing :) Peter O'Toole rocks my socks :)

Season: 1 Episode: 9 Character : King Henry VIII Actor (s):Jonathan Rhys Meyers Scene: Henry has just been scolded by Katherine and Anne. Enraged by the lack of respect, he lashes out: "I'M THE KING OF ENGLAND!" Comments: The spoiled brat!! He can do anything he wants because of it and gets away with murder...wonder where he went after he died? by FMFJRMGRL Seems to be his favourite line :) It sums his personality up perfectly. - Chocobasse10 I know you're the 'KING OF ENGLAND!!!!' Season: 1 Episode: 4 Character (s): Princess Margaret Tudor and Charles Brandon Actor (s): Gabrielle Anwar and Henry Cavill Scene: Princess Margaret dances with Charles Brandon following her wedding to the King of Portugal. Margaret asks if Charles teases her because it amuses him. When Charles responds, "Why else?" Margaret states: "Because you love me." Comments: I love this scene, because the two of them finally realize that they love each other, although it is bad timing. ~~hrm_elizabeth I love this scene too although I think it was more lust for Charles. Something he felt was love at the time but he clearly didn't given the circumstances (in the series). Lady_Amber

Season: 2 Episode: 1 Character (s): Queen Katherine and Sir Thomas More Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jeremy Northam Scene: As Queen Katherine leaves court, an optimistic Sir Thomas More tries to comfort the beloved Queen. "Blessed lady, Queen of Hearts, there will be even greater crowds than these to welcome you when you return to London." Comments: You can see such a sadness in both of their eyes, as they try so hard to be optimistic. It's such a heartfelt scene. ~~hrm_elizabeth It is so sad she was sent away. But, since I see it pleases the king, I will willingly accompany them in death, with this assurance: that I shall lead an endless life with them in peace." Katherine defiantly tells him he won't. "For every scholar that votes for you...I could find a thousand who would vote for me." Comments: This scene speaks volumes in the truth of Henry's "Great Matter". There's a reason it took seven years for Henry to get his divorce. -LNor19 Agreed, Catherine is awesome. Comments: This is probably my favourite quote in the whole show. Even if she had no right to say that or it wasn't true nobody can deny that this quote is just awesome! AMAZING!! + I think it is very true and a really fair point, I could imagine the real Anne saying this. Comments: Such an intense scene and was brilliantly based on historical fact. I blame mostly Cromwell for Anne's downfall, That is why I've never really liked him. Grace_B These scene is really sad,i wonder what would had happen if Henry gave Anne one more chance. Yes her father and uncle arranged everything but Henry made it too easy for them. The Seymours did the same thing! He gives his affection so easily to the families of the woman he beds and marries that it is far too hard to resist taking advantage of that. He has no one to blame but himself. If only Henry would have given her another chance! It was really his own fault in the end. "The fact is, Campeggio, that the kings of Europe have power, but no morality. I must act as their conscience. They are my willful children, and I their father leading along the paths of righteousness...so help me God." Later in this same scene (just a few seconds afterwards), when Campeggio discusses the appointment of Cranmer, Pope Paul III makes the following comment: "What harm can a nobody inflict upon our holy church?" Comments: Season: 1 Episode: 8 Character (s): Queen Katherine of Aragon Actor (s): Maria Doyle Kennedy Scene: Katherine to Henry at the Legatine Court in Blackfriars "Sir I beseech you. And whether or not it be true, I put it to your conscience." Comments: These are the actual words that Katherine used at the court. Shame they cut down Katherine's speech quite a bit, but well, Maria delivers it wonderfully, I think I've only seen one actress deliver it better - Frances Cuka (and she has the correct colouring for Katherine too) Season: 1 Episode: Character (s): Anne Boleyn & King Henry VIII Actor (s): Natalie Dormer & Jonathan Rhys Meyers Scene: Henry is dreaming about Anne. "Seduce me. Write letters to me. And poems, I love poems. Ravish me with your words. Seduce me." Comments: This scene was incredible. I think it was very 'dreamy' and something that Henry probably would have dreamt when he'd fell in love with Anne. I love the quote! Comments: This is a quote from a Latin work by Bede called "Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum" (Ecclesiastical History of the English People, Book II, Chapter 13) finished in 731 AD. Something Henry would probably have read.
